Vadim Kibardin

Vadim Kibardin is an artist, industrial designer, researcher, and craftsman. He graduated from the Industrial Design Faculty of the Ural State University of Architecture and Art and the Chancellor of Germany's scholarship program. The KIBARDIN design studio was founded in Prague (Czech Republic) in 2004 by Vadim Kibardin. Now, KIBARDIN® is a trademark of Vadim Kibardin, registered in the USA, UK, Europe, and other countries.

His favorite research topics include furniture, lighting, time, and everything related to these. Wristwatches and interior items are produced under the KIBARDIN brand and are represented in 27 countries worldwide. Kibardin's approach to design emphasizes both innovation and functionality. By exploring new ideas, materials, and technologies, and executing them well, Kibardin makes his works highly artistic, intelligent, and always inspiring.

Vadim Kibardin delves into a conscious and responsible approach to consumption. As a pioneer of circular design, he developed a construction method that utilizes the underused properties of ordinary packaging. Working predominantly with paper and cardboard waste as a sculptural material, Vadim creates two collections. With his Black Paper collection, Vadim contributes to achieving a circular economy by creating sculptural, highly aesthetic, and fully functional furniture from cardboard boxes. The TOTEM series includes TOTEM stools and the new disposable Lolly chair, made exclusively from discarded packaging and designed exclusively for the Mia Karlova gallery.

At the COLLECTIBLE 2022 exhibition (Brussels), his new Black Mirror capsule collection premiered, featuring a one-of-a-kind set comprising a chair and a hairstyling table. Vadim's projects express a tense dialogue between functionality and aesthetics. The rational and emotional worlds collide, generating a surge of energy encapsulated in a single artistic functional object.

The expert council of Ambiente Frankfurt, the world's largest consumer goods exhibition, included Vadim Kibardin's totem project method in the list of world trends for 2021. His international design awards include the GOOD DESIGN Awards and IDA Design Awards in the USA, the German Design Award and Iconic Awards: Innovative Interior, the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Award, and the GMUND AWARD in Germany, the Promosedia International Design Competition and the Charmant Design Competition in Japan, the Ro Plastic Prize and the A'Design Award in Italy, the Design and Designer Competition in France, and the BIGSEE Productdesign Award in Slovenia.

His works have been exhibited at international exhibitions, including the CODA Museum, Centraal Museum, PAN Amsterdam, and GLUE Amsterdam in the Netherlands; Cité du Design and BAD+ in France; Cosmoscow, State Tretyakov Gallery, Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Arts, and Moscow Design Museum in Russia; COLLECTIBLE and Galila’s P.O.C. in Belgium; Paper Positions Basel during Art Basel Week; Design Museum Holon in Israel; Ro Plastic Prize, Salone del Mobile, and MIDO in Milan; Florence Design Week; Promosedia in Italy; Clerkenwell Design Week and Kevin’s Green Heroes in London; Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore; Gdynia Design Days in Poland; Dutch Design Week in the Netherlands; and the Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art in Korea, among others.
