GROUP SHOW

On December 7, Alina Pinsky Gallery opened its Group Show, featuring works from various genres by artists from the gallery’s roster—ranging from Shelkovsky to Muzalevsky, and from Turnova to Andreeva. Nearly all the works are being shown for the first time.

The exhibition brings together different periods and directions — Modern & Contemporary: works by artists inclined towards expressionism and the emotional-sensory interpretation of color and form, as well as those whose art reflects the analytical methods inherent in geometric abstraction, minimalism, and op art.

The first category includes works by Natalia Turnova (b. 1957), Igor Skaletsky (b. 1978), Natasha Khabarova (b. 1985), and Evgeny Muzalevsky (b. 1995).

Despite their varied ages, experiences, and backgrounds, all four artists are representatives of what is often termed contemporary painting. Their vision is projected onto the canvas through an analysis of their inner worlds, drifting images drawn from the subconscious. This approach is also evident in the aestheticized, often ironic works of photographer Timofey Parshchikov (b. 1983), whose pieces are also featured in the exhibition.

The “analytical” section includes the concise panels and reliefs by Igor Shelkovsky (b. 1937), the "hard contour painting" of Mikhail Chernyshov (b. 1945) and Boris Bich (1946-2018), the unique op-art “modules” from the 1970s by Tatyana Andreeva (b. 1951), and the reduced, "purified of representationalism" reality of Alena Kirtsova (b. 1954). Their creative approaches involve "reassembling" the surrounding world and natural motifs, transforming them into logically precise forms and structures.

The exhibition will run until February 5, 2024.
